Laser is the preferred method of hair reduction in people with light to medium tone skin and brown or black hair. It is far superior to conventional methods (shaving, depilatories, waxing) which are temporary. Electrolysis, though permanent, is much less efficient. Laser works by targeting the pigment in the hair. The hair itself is gently warmed beneath the skin, which causes indirect heating of the cells that generate the hair. This results in a smaller, slower growing hair and eventually completely eliminates the hair. Only actively growing hairs are affected.
